Daniel “Saucepan” Hartnett

Daniel “Saucepan” Hartnett was a fiddle player and teacher from Knockanaer, Tournafulla. He was regarded as the best musician of his generation in his locality and taught a number of musicians from the Rockchapel and Tournafulla area.

  1. Apparently he wasn’t too fond of the nickname “Saucepan”. Dan Curtin I think passed along a story about an aspiring musician traveling to meet Daniel, and asking a stranger along the road the for assistance in finding “Saucepan Hartnett”. He received quite an earful from the stranger, who it turned out was Daniel himself.
